How can I join?
ASA is open to any University of Arizona student interested in accounting. The only requirement to be a member is to pay a $20 per semester fee, due by midnight of the third meeting.
What does ASA do?
ASA hosts bi-weekly meetings and coordinates social and volunteering events. For our bi-weekly meetings, we invite accountants from local, mid-size, and big four firms to present business-related topics, such as interviewing, building a resume, and more. The diverse size of firms allows our members to hear from professionals with different backgrounds and experiences to gain a better understanding of the accounting profession and to find their place. Students have the opportunity to talk to the professionals after their presentation, giving them a leg up in their applications for internships and jobs.
As for our social and volunteering events, we have hosted a wide range of fun activities, including bowling, crocheting, painting, and more! By joining ASA, members can both enhance their future accounting careers and get involved in the Tucson community.
How can ASA benefit me?
Members of ASA get the chance to meet one-on-one with accounting professionals in a much smaller setting than a typical career fair. Most (if not all) of the presenters are hoping to hire, so it is a great way to find an internship or job. Some of the presenters are even former ASA (and BAP) members, giving a commonality between our members and presenters. The social and volunteering aspect of the club helps members meet other accounting majors and get involved with Tucson. It is a great place to make friends and help the community!
