TEA x PHIL 400/500 Course

Note: Spring 2024 applications are closed.

Grace Deadline: 29th of February, 2024 | 11:59 PM MST

PHIL 400/500 is a 7-Week II hybrid, credit-optional course that will introduce you to problem profiles such as global health and development, animal welfare, global catastrophic risks, and issues related to the long-term future. The course will also contain a primer on applied moral philosophy, improved decision-making, and frameworks for assessing existing and novel global priorities.

The weekly tasks for this course & program are as follows:
— Approximately 120 minutes of readings
One 90-minute discussion session
— A two-hour-long written reflection task

Additionally, you will work on a project leading up to a 15-minute presentation towards the second half of the course. The approximate minimum time commitment will be 6 hours per week if you take the course and program for academic credit.

You may audit the course if a lower time commitment works better for you. If you audit the course, you will be expected to do the readings and attend the weekly discussions, but you will not be required to submit any assignments. In this case, the time commitment will be around 3.5 hours per week.

Optional activities of this program will include regular socials such as games and hikes. Further, co-working sessions will be organized multiple days every week where you can optionally study and work together in an accountability-driven setting.

As part of the course and program, you will get the chance to confront both philosophical and practical questions related to furthering your personal impact, get access to 1-on-1 mentorship and networking opportunities, and join a dedicated and passionate community of altruists.
